Once my kids reached an age where they could sing along and dance to music I realized that I couldn't stand most of the music that was out there. We listen to music all the time in our house, so over the years I've compiled a list of our favorites. I'll continue to update this list as new finds come along.
Albums & Artists:
The Okee Dokee Brothers- OMG I love these guys! Two Denver friends (and recent Grammy winners) who love sing about their outdoor adventures. Their songs are fun to sing along to and include tunes for the adults.
Big Block Sing Song- "Big Block Singsong is a hilarious and thoughtful series of animated music videos by director and animator, Warren Brown and composer and recording artist, Adam Goddard" (http://www.bigblocksingsong.com/about/). The songs they sing are ridiculous and funny. My boys and I love acting them out while we're driving in the car. Our favorites are Hair and Moustachios.
Mo Phillips- From the mouth of Mo, "Mo performs interactive shows of his own that respect the intelligence of young people with wit and irreverence, without being being strictly scatological. This is music built for kids and parents alike! Mo does not dumb down lyrics or melodies for kids to "understand", and therefore sings about things whole families can appreciate. A fine, distilled blend of Americana, Soul and Blues, while not being afraid of a poppy hook or straight rockin' out." Cloud Skateboard is our favorite song of his.
Moana Soundtrack- Pretty much the whole thing, but we especially like You're Welcome and Shiny (LOVE Jermaine Clement!)
Bands we all know that also do kids songs:
The White Stripes- We're Going to be Friends
Bare Naked Ladies- Crazy ABC's
"Weird Al" Yankovic- The Saga Begins
Lisa Loeb- She has a few kids albums: Feel What You Feel, Lullaby Girl, Nursery Rhyme Parade (eh.), & Silly Sing Alongs
Ziggy Marley- Family Time
LOL!
Keller Williams- Mama Tooted
Baron Von Rumblebuss- Did You See (Where the Cat Threw Up, Cuz the Cat Threw Up Again)?
Parry Gripp & BooneBum- Raining Tacos
Old School Favorites that my kids love:
Survivor- Eye of the Tiger
Queen- We are the Champions
